  • Created Role Based Access Control with audsys security auditing of privileged accounts on HP-UX 11i v2 and v3 servers for NSW State Government Agencies and Australian Attorney-General’s Department. Volunteered to develop this solution to achieve highest customers' satisfaction.
  • Designed and developed Operations Acceptance Testing and Auditing scripts (security, performance, best practices) in Perl for Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, and NCR MP-RAS servers. Version for AIX is in testing. Self-initiated projects to achieve streamlined audit of servers for project work or enforce compliance with best industry-standards.
  • Co-ordinated and involved in system recovery and resumption of services for several hundred mid-range and high-end Unix and Linux systems in real-life disaster at Hewlett-Packard data centre. This included work for customers who did not have proper documentation or developed procedures for Business Continuity. Won HP High Flyer 2004 Award for South-East Asia/Pacific Region.
  • Designed and developed Ignite-UX disaster recovery backups for HP-UX servers via SSH tunnel by utilizing NFSv4 across firewalls for an overseas government agency. Volunteered to develop this solution to achieve highest customers' satisfaction.
  • Devised, architected, and implemented HP-UX hardware platform and operating system upgrade, and disaster recovery procedures for Snowy Hydro SCADA and RAS regional servers. Resolved upgrade problem in spite of two major IT Systems vendors claiming there was no viable solution. Achieved prolonged use of HP-UX platform for the customer and stability of services.
  • Solely developed and delivered training courses for Ubuntu Linux to WETA (New Zealand company famous for feature films like Avatar, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, and others).
  • Designed and developed automated auditing of SANs across different data centers for a government in Europe. Volunteered to develop this solution to achieve highest customers' satisfaction.
  • Designed and developed thin-provisioned LUN space reclamation on AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, and Linux servers. Volunteered to develop this solution to achieve highest customers' satisfaction.
  • Migration from OpenVMS to HP-UX Serviceguard cluster at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (SSWAHS). Work included some DCL to Unix Bash Shell conversions, ongoing training for the hospital and Cerner staff, and evaluation of the Serviceguard cluster. Multi-million dollar project that helped retiring very old and costly operating system and equipment.
  • For Major Defense Projects designed, developed, and installed facilities that enforced printing of security classification headers on every document via GUI or command-line on Solaris platform (coding in C programming language). Instrumental in implementing customer's stringent project guidelines.
  • Reviewed problems on Ibrix X9720 NAS for South Australian Police Electronic Crime Section and proposed resolution that improved performance by around 100%. Achieved highest customer's satisfaction that led to increased sales and support in other IT services.
  • While working at Computer Sciences Corporation Australia, Corporate Division, solely designed, developed and installed centralized access to Internet from all offices on Solaris platform (Checkpoint firewall, SMTP gateways, Squid proxy servers, Apache web servers, Socks5 application proxy servers, secure FTP servers). Achieved savings of several hundred thousands of dollars in just first two years and improved security. Implemented the solution under very limited budget and on-time.
  • Built, designed, and solely managed all aspects of Linux-based Internet Services Provider (Slackware distribution) between 1995 and 2005. Was the only technical resource and automated all processes (network monitoring, security audits, host intrusion detection, user account management, user billing and invoicing, upgrades, server installations). From a $5,000.00 initial investment achieved revenue of close to $2,000.000.00 for the business. Established and successfully ran a small company without bank borrowings or losses throughout its lifespan.
  • While working at Mayne Nickless (largest private hospital group in Australia at the time), solely designed and implemented a secure (government requirement) technical solution with two DMZ and two internal email gateways running on Solaris 9 that replaced 53 Windows Exchange SMTP servers. Achieved savings of several hundred thousands of dollars and 24x7 uptime of services. Volunteered to implement a project that achieved 24-7 service uptime and financial savings in vicinity of several hundred thousand dollars per year.
  • Implemented Ingres database synchronization across 58 Australian private hospitals on Solaris platform. It replaced commercial Veritas Volume Replicator. Achieved savings of several hundred thousands of dollars in the first year alone.
  • Solution Matter Expert to rewrite course materials and labs for HP-UX System and Network Administrator I and II courses (H3064 and H3065). Volunteered to improve major technical courses at Hewlett-Packard.
  • Solution Matter Expert for course materials, labs, and certification for HP Superdome 2 System. Volunteered to set up this major technical course at Hewlett-Packard.
  • Trained and mentored several thousand Unix, Linux, and Storage architects, administrators, and support staff at Hewlett-Packard. Most of this work done as member of HP Unix Profession and Unix Ambassadors worldwide teams.
